D-backs reliever Ziegler pokes fun at Marlins GM over trade rumors
The Miami Marlins aren't trading Jose Fernandez. Or maybe they are. Or maybe not. Nobody really knows for sure.
FOX Sports insider Ken Rosenthal has heard , however, that the team will be willing to move him for an "absurd haul."
Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reported Monday that the team asked the Arizona Diamondbacks for two of their best players, plus prospects, for their 23-year-old ace:
That would qualify as an absurd haul.
So absurd, that to D-backs reliever Brad Ziegler, it sounds like a fantasy football trade:
We all have that person in our league -- the one that throws ridiculous trades out there, knowing it won't be accepted, but they do it anyway just because.
@JonHeymanCBS Marlins' new GM is apparently in one of my FFLs, too, based on the reported 5-good-players-for-1 trade offer...

Regardless, the rumors aren't likely to die down at any point this week, with the Winter Meetings drawing to a closer on Dec. 10.
In 11 starts in 2015, Fernandez went 6-1 with a 2.92 ERA, striking out 79 across 64 2/3 innings.
