D-backs reach agreement on Marquis

Published Jul. 30, 2011 1:00 a.m. ET

The Diamondbacks have reached agreement on a trade for Nationals right-hander Jason Marquis, major-league sources told FOXSports.com.

Class A infielder Zachary Walters will go to Washington in the deal, a source said.

Marquis was scheduled to pitch against the Mets tonight. He has been scratched from that start.

Marquis is 8-5 with a 3.95 ERA this year. He will become a free agent after this season.

Marquis is due approximately $2.5 million over the remainder of this year. It’s not yet known what portion of that the Diamondbacks will be picking up.
