D-backs' No. 1 pick Dansby Swanson still dealing with concussion symptoms

The Arizona Diamondbacks' plan to fast track No. 1 overall pick Dansby Swanson through their organization might be derailed.

According to the Arizona Republic, Swanson is still dealing with concussion symptoms two weeks after being hit in the face in his first action with a major-league team.

"Every now and then he'll have a little spell where he doesn't feel quite right," farm director Mike Bell said. "So that slows it down a little bit. I think we're almost there, but we're waiting for that one day where he's completely symptom-free."

The shortstop suffered a minor concussion and needed 14 stitches after being struck on the right side of his mouth while trying to avoid a fastball during a simulated game amongst other Diamondbacks prospects.

Swanson had originally planned to return to action after a few days, but he's now been sidelined for weeks and is growing anxious to return to the field.

"I think at this point he's even frustrated," Bell said. "Just one little thing here or there that kind of creeps up where he might get a little light-headed or something."
