ST. LOUIS (AP) Chicago Cubs pitcher Kyle Hendricks is working on a no-hitter through six innings against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The right-hander has thrown only 63 pitches and faced the minimum 18 batters Monday night. The lone baserunner he allowed came in the second inning on a one-out walk to Yadier Molina, who was immediately erased when Jedd Gyorko grounded into a double play.
Hendricks began the night with a 2.07 ERA, lowest in the majors. He has five strikeouts, and the Cubs lead 4-0.
