Cubs donate over $1 million to charity
The Cubs came up short against the Pirates on Wednesday, but earlier in the day they had a pretty significant victory.
At the annual Cubs Care charity luncheon, the organization donated more that $1 million to local charities.
“We need a bigger room and the good news is it's coming,” Michael Lufrana, the Cubs' vice president of community affairs said to the Chicago Sun-Times.
The annual event was well received and David Hiller, the president and CEO of the McCormick Foundation, which oversees the Cubs' charity fund, was very pleased with the results.
“We have out issues in Chicago, lord knows, but we are working on them … it's based on all the amazing work you all are doing,” Hiller said.
