Cubs' Baez out with fractured finger

Published Jun. 7, 2015 10:57 p.m. ET

Talk of a Javier Baez promotion will come to a halt as the prospect suffered a "non-displaced fracture on his left ring figer Sunday in a game with Triple-A Iowa. He is expected to miss four to eight weeks," according to Cubs.com.

“That's a kick in the butt for the kid, man," Cubs manager Joe Maddon said. “He's been working so hard, he's been doing so well. I don't know the extent of it, but I heard about it, yes.”
