Cubs, assistant GM Bush agree to 3-year extension
The Chicago Cubs have agreed to a three-year contract extension with assistant general manager Randy Bush.
The deal announced Tuesday runs through 2015.
Bush is entering his seventh season as assistant GM and ninth in the organization. He joined the club as a special assistant to the general manager before the 2005 season.
The Cubs also announced Tuesday they have hired former major leaguer David Bell as their third base coach and removed the interim tag from hitting coach James Rowson, completing manager Dale Sveum's staff.
Bell, the son of former major leaguer Buddy Bell and grandson of Gus Bell, spent the past four seasons managing and coaching third base in the Cincinnati Reds' minor league system. He replaces the fired Pat Listach.
Rowson replaced the fired Rudy Jaramillo on an interim basis in June after joining the organization as the minor league hitting instructor before the season.
