St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina has been placed on bereavement leave after a death in the family, and will miss the All-Star Game on Tuesday.

His teammate, outfielder Matt Holliday was named to replace him on the NL roster.

The team said Friday that the grandfather of his wife had died and that Molina has returned to Puerto Rico.

Catcher Bryan Anderson was recalled from Triple-A Memphis before Friday night's game against the Marlins.
