Cardinals upgrade video boards, keeping up with technology

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 3:30 p.m. ET

ST. LOUIS (AP) For the upcoming season, their 10th at Busch Stadium, the St. Louis Cardinals will be adding a wow factor to their game-day experience.

The Cardinals announced details Tuesday of a multimillion-dollar investment in high-definition LED video boards that just might make the place feel brand new all over again.

Rather than a video board arms race or adding another layer to the Cubs-Cardinals rivalry, team officials say it's a simple matter of keeping up with available enhancements to the game. Multiple major league teams have made the switch to high definition the last handful of years, and with equipment now a decade old, the Cardinals were ready for their turn.
