Cardinals' prospect shines in Futures Game
Luis Perdomo was a late addition to the Futures Game, but he certainly took advantage of the opportunity.
Named to the World Team as an injury replacement, Perdomo came in and threw 2/3 of an inning with one strikeout.
"It's a great opportunity to be here, a great experience," Perdomo told Cardinals.com. "Thanks to God for letting me be here."
Sunday's outing may have been short, but it reinforced what those within the Cardinals organization have been saying about Perdomo all year.
"Luis moved into the Peoria rotation in April and has proven he can pitch to the Midwest League level," said Gary LaRocque, the Cardinals' director of player development. "Using a three-pitch mix, his fastball shows good life, [mixes] in a hard curveball and a developing changeup with the ability to get ground-ball outs. He's learning the importance of fastball command and controlling counts using his secondary pitches as well."
