Cano receives Bronx cheer in return to Yankee Stadium

After signing a 10-year, $240 million deal with the Seattle Mariners, Robinson Cano knew he would one day return to Yankee Stadium.

Cano’s reunion to the New York Yankees fan base finally came on Tuesday night.

In the opener of the Mariners’ three-game series in New York, Cano was greeted by the cries and boos of Yankees fans.

The fans loved it when Cano struck out in the first. As he jogged out to take his position at second base before the bottom half of the inning, the Bleacher Creatures chanted “You sold out!”

But Cano, who played for the Yankees for nine seasons before signing with the Mariners this past offseason, got the last laugh as Seattle took the opener 6-3.

"That's something I can't control," Cano told reporters after the game, claiming he never heard the chant. "I'm not surprised. Just got to go out there and play my game. ... It was weird the first three, four innings."

Cano went 1 for 5 with a run, an RBI and a stolen base. After his first-inning strikeout, he grounded out in the fourth, hit an RBI groundout in the fifth, singled and stole second base in the seventh, and struck out in the eighth.
