Brewers turn 2nd triple play this season

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 12:34 p.m. ET

MILWAUKEE (AP) The Brewers turned their second triple play of the season in the first inning of Friday night's game against the Cincinnati Reds.

Jose Peraza singled under the glove of third baseman Jonathan Villar, and Scott Schebler reached on an error by Villar. With the runners in motion, Joey Votto hit a drive off Zach Davies that first baseman Chris Carter snagged near the foul line, taking away an extra-base hit. Carter stepped on first and then lobbed a throw to shortstop Orlando Arcia, who stepped on second for the third out.

The triple play was the eighth in Milwaukee history. The Brewers turned a triple play at home on April 29 against Miami, also with Davies was on the mound.
