Brewers exercise option on 1st baseman Adam Lind

MILWAUKEE (AP) The Brewers have exercised the $8 million option on the contract of first baseman Adam Lind.

Lind hit .277 with 20 homers and 87 RBIs for Milwaukee, providing the only left-handed power presence in the Milwaukee lineup.

Lind was acquired last offseason in a deal that sent pitcher Marco Estrada to the Toronto Blue Jays. With his relatively affordable contract, the 32-year-old Lind also could be a trade chip for a team in rebuilding mode.

Outfielder Ryan Braun is the only Brewer under contract beyond 2017.

Also this week, veteran starter Kyle Lohse became a free agent. The 37-year-old Lohse was 5-13 with a 5.85 ERA in the final season of a three-year, $33 million contract.
