Brewers first baseman Mat Gamel had surgery Tuesday to repair the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Gamel was hurt May 1 while trying to catch a foul popup in an 8-3 victory at San Diego. He was hitting .246 with one home run and six RBIs this season after taking Prince Fielder's spot in the field.

Gamel is one of three Milwaukee players out for the season with injuries. Shortstop Alex Gonzalez also tore the ACL in his right knee and left-handed starter Chris Narveson has a torn left rotator cuff.
