The Braves, seeking depth at second base, have signed infielder Tyler Greene to a minor league contract.

Greene, who was released by the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday, was assigned to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Braves second baseman Dan Uggla is on the 15-day disabled list while recovering from corrective eye surgery. His replacement, Tyler Pastornicky, tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on Wednesday and will have season-ending surgery.

Paul Janish made his first start at second base since 2011 on Friday night and is starting against Washington again on Saturday night.

Uggla said Saturday his eye surgery went well and his vision was tested at 20-15.

Greene, whose 30th birthday is Saturday, is a career .224 hitter with St. Louis, Houston and the White Sox.
