Braves recall left-hander Marksberry from Triple-A Gwinnett

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 6:34 p.m. ET

ATLANTA (AP) The Atlanta Braves have optioned right-hander Casey Kelly to Triple-A Gwinnett and recalled left-hander Matt Marksberry from Gwinnett to pitch out of the bullpen.

Kelly allowed one run in three innings in relief of Bud Norris in Friday night's 6-3 loss to the New York Mets and likely would not have been available again in relief for a few days. Manager Fredi Gonzalez says Kelly ''saved the bullpen'' with his long relief appearance.

The 25-year-old Marksberry was 0-3 with a 5.01 ERA in 31 games with Atlanta in 2015. Kelly is 2-5 with a 6.44 ERA in three seasons with San Diego and Atlanta.
