ATLANTA (AP) The Atlanta Braves have recalled infielder Jace Peterson from Triple-A Gwinnett to fill the roster spot created when Kelly Johnson was traded to the New York Mets.

Peterson, Atlanta's starting second baseman through most of the 2015 season, hit only .186 in 97 at-bats since being optioned to Gwinnett on May 2. He played at second base and center field with Gwinnett.

Peterson was hitting .182 in 44 at-bats with Atlanta before being optioned to Gwinnett. He hit .239 with six homers, 52 RBI and 12 stolen bases for Atlanta last season.

The Braves, who were off on Thursday, traded Johnson to the Mets on Wednesday for minor league right-hander Akeel Morris.
