Braves put McLouth on DL

Published Jun. 12, 2010 4:37 a.m. ET

The Atlanta Braves have placed outfielder Nate McLouth on the 15-day disabled list with a head injury.

The move was made before Friday night's 2-1 loss at Minnesota and is retroactive to Thursday. McLouth was injured in a game at Arizona on Wednesday when he collided with Jason Heyward in the outfield and his head slammed to the turf.

Gerardo Parra turned it into an inside-the-park home run in a game the Diamondbacks won 2-1.

McLouth is hitting .176 with three home runs this season.

The Braves initially planned to recall outfielder Jordan Schafer from Triple-A Gwinnett. But after outfielder Omar Infante bruised his left foot in the fifth inning, they decided to recall shortstop Brandon Hicks instead.
