Boston Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli left Tuesday night's game against the White Sox after injuring his left ring finger sliding into second base in the ninth inning. X-rays on Napoli's finger were negative.
With the game tied 1-1 and two outs, Napoli advanced to second on Donnie Veal's wild pitch. Napoli slid head-first and appeared to dislocate his finger against the base.

"Yeah, I really don't do it often. But on a play like that when I don't know what kind of throw or what's going to happen, and I see Alexei coming across, it's my first instinct to try and get to the bag as quick as possible," Napoli said.
He was 1 for 3 with a walk and two strikeouts Tuesday. He is hitting .302 with three home runs and nine RBIs on the season.
