The Boston Red Sox announced Tuesday that they have hired former Detroit Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski as their President of Baseball Operations.
In addition to the hire, GM Ben Cherington will be stepping down and assisting Dombrowski during the transition.
The Sox hire comes just days after they announced that former Los Angeles Angels GM Jerry Dipoto will work with the team in an advisory role.
