Boston 1B Napoli ejected by HP ump

BOSTON (AP) Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli has been ejected by home plate umpire Toby Basner.

Napoli took a called third to end the first inning of Monday night's game against the White Sox, threw his bat down and fired his helmet. The helmet bounced and hit Basner on the leg. The umpire immediately threw out the first baseman.

Manager John Farrell came out to argue, but was not tossed.

Daniel Nava took over at first at the start of the second.

The White Sox lead 4-2.
