Blue Jays trade Emaus to Rockies for Malone

The Blue Jays traded second baseman Brad Emaus to the Colorado Rockies on Friday for right-hander Chris Malone and either a player to be named or cash.

Emaus began the season with the New York Mets, who claimed him from Toronto in the Rule 5 draft last December. But Emaus struggled in his first major league stint and was designated for assignment, cleared waivers and returned to the Blue Jays on Thursday.

Emaus hit .162 with one RBI and nine strikeouts in 37 at-bats with the Mets.

Malone, 27, had a 4.10 ERA out of the bullpen at Double-A Tulsa.
