TORONTO (AP) The Blue Jays have signed international free agent Vladimir Guerrero Jr., the 16-year-old son of nine-time All-Star and 2004 AL MVP Vladimir Guerrero.

Guerrero Jr. was born in Montreal during his father's career with the Expos, and is a Canadian citizen. A right-handed hitting outfielder, his deal is reportedly worth $3.9 million.

The elder Guerrero signed a minor league deal with the Blue Jays in 2012, but never played above Triple-A. He posted a message on Twitter saying he was ''happy and proud'' his son had signed with Toronto.

Also Thursday, the Blue Jays traded two minor leaguers, right-hander Chase DeJong and infielder Tim Locastro, to the Los Angeles Dodgers for international signing slots 27, 57 and 117.
