Blue Jays recall OF Pillar, cut OF Reimold

Published Aug. 26, 2014 5:21 p.m. ET

TORONTO (AP) The Blue Jays have recalled outfielder Kevin Pillar from Triple-A Buffalo and designated outfielder Nolan Reimold for assignment.

Pillar was promoted Tuesday, the same day he was picked for the International League postseason All-Star team.

Pillar was sent to the minors on June 25, one day after he threw his bat down the dugout steps after being pulled for a pinch-hitter.

He spoke to Toronto manager John Gibbons after rejoining the team and was told the incident was ''water under the bridge.''

Pillar has played in 26 games with the Blue Jays this season, batting .225 with two RBIs.

Reimold hit .212 with two homers and nine RBIs in 22 games with Toronto.
