Toronto Blue Jays scores and analysis for minor league games played on Thursday, September 1st

A looted Buffalo Bisons team had trouble scoring runs in this one. The Bisons have gave way to the Toronto Blue Jays expanded roster as the season wears down and had a stripped roster in this one. Dalton Pompey, Ryan Tepera, Danny Barnes highlight the call ups to the show from Buffalo. In this one the offence failed to get going against Phil Coke. The Bisons left 10 runners on base as they collected seven hits off Coke. Coke managed to wiggle out of trouble and hold the Herd to just one run. Jesus Montero went 3-for-4 and had a RBI single during the game. Matt Dominguez picked up two hits during the game as well. Montero and Dominguez had five of the team’s seven total hits.
On the hill Jason Berken battled through 5.1 innings of work. Chris Parmelee hit a solo home run off of Berken in the 2nd inning to get the RailRiders going. Berken allowed four earned runs on eight hits. Berken also allowed three walks and struck out four. Bo Schultz came on and pitched 2.1 innings while allowing two earned runs. Dustin Antolin finally stopped the offence and shut out the RailRiders for the remaining 1.1 innings.

The Fisher Cats rode a solid outing by Conner Greene and a late rally to the win in this one. Dwight Smith Jr. remains hot at the plate as he uncorked his 14th home run of the season. Smith hit the homer in the 4th inning to open up the scoring for the Cats. He also scored twice during the game and went 3-for-4 at the plate. Jon Berti and Reese McGuire picked up RBIs on outs and Ian Parmley had an RBI single during the game.
Conner Greene finished his campaign strong with a 7-inning outing. He allowed all three runs to the Thunder but gave up just four hits. He also allowed a pair of walks and struck out three. He pitched well enough to pick up his 6th win of the year. Alonzo Gonzalez came on and threw a shutout inning and Murphy Smith picked up his 5th save.
Dunedin Blue Jays (75-57) – 0Clearwater Threshers (80-53) – 0

Lansing Lugnuts (68-68) – 3Bowling Green Hot Rods (80-55) – 2
Good pitching and just enough offence spelled victory for the Lugnuts during this one. The new-look top of the Lugnuts order continues to impress. The one through four batters each had a hit and went for 6-for-15. The Lugnuts had a three-run 3rd inning that led them to the win behind an excellent pitching performance. Cavan Biggio scored a run and had an RBI single. The Lugnuts were also walked seven times and had seven hits during the game.
Ryan Borucki picked up his 10th win of the season on a 5-inning, three-hit outing. He allowed just one run and struck out five. Tom Robson followed with 2.0 solid innings but allowed an earned run on just one hit and a walk. Jackson Lowery got in an inning of work and allowed just a hit while striking out a pair. Andrew Case came on an slammed the door shut to gather his 10th save.

Bluefield Blue Jays (36-30) – 6Princeton Rays (37-28) – 4
The Blue Jays were able to hold off the Rays late surge in this one to secure the win. Bradley Jones picked up three RBIs during an impressive 3-for-4 showing. He also had a double and scored. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. raked in a pair of RBI while recording outs during the game He was also able to score a run during an 0-3 performance. Levi Scott also recorded an RBI on a double.
Eric Veglahn recorded his first win of the season during a 6.2 innings of work. He allowed five hits and a pair of earned runs en-route to the win. He also struck out four batters and walked a pair. Kelyn Jose and Connor Eller allowed an earned run each during the late innings but were able to keep the Rays from coming back.
