Blue Jays INF Vizquel ejected for arguing

Published May. 1, 2012 9:56 p.m. ET

Blue Jays infielder Omar Vizquel was ejected from Tuesday's game against Texas for arguing balls and strikes from the bench.

Home plate umpire Sam Holbrook ejected Vizquel, 45, with Texas catcher Mike Napoli batting in the top of the fifth, apparently taking exception to Vizquel's comments about calls going against Blue Jays rookie right-hander Drew Hutchison.

Manager John Farrell came out to argue, then returned to the dugout and spoke with Vizquel, who gathered his glove and cap and headed to the clubhouse.

Vizquel, who has been used sparingly since signing with Toronto this winter, was not in the lineup Tuesday. Currently in his 24th season, he's batting .091 in five games.
