Betancourt will have MRI on groin Wednesday

Published May. 22, 2013 2:47 a.m. ET

Colorado Rockies closer Rafael Betancourt says he will undergo an MRI after leaving in the 10th inning against Arizona on Tuesday night with a tight right groin.

Asked if he thought he might wind up on the disabled list, Betancourt responded: ''No, no. We'll see what's going to come tomorrow.''

Betancourt felt some discomfort after throwing a second straight pitch into the dirt. He took a few warm-up tosses as trainers, teammates and coaches huddled around him. He couldn't get loose and walked off the mound.

Wilton Lopez was summoned in from the bullpen and pitched a scoreless 10th as the Rockies beat the Diamondbacks 5-4 on Wilin Rosario's game-winning single in the bottom of the inning.
