Astros place Martinez on DL, call up Downs

The Houston Astros placed outfielder Fernando Martinez on the 7-day disabled list Saturday with post-concussion syndrome. He'd been hit in the head by a pitch on May 26 while playing for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The Astros recalled infielder Matt Downs from Oklahoma City, and he started Saturday's game against the Chicago White Sox at third base.

Martinez has appeared in four games with Houston, going 1 for 15 with two RBIs.
