Astros looking forward to imminent returns of Springer and Oberholtzer
Things are looking up for Houston Astros outfielder George Springer, who has been on the concussion D.L. since crashing into the right field wall pursuing a line drive last week.
Springer is set to return to Houston on Wednesday unless there are any unexpected setbacks during his rehab game with Double-A Corpus Christi on Tuesday night.
Manager A.J. Hinch recounted Springer's situation to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com:
"We had to go through the protocol like everybody else, waiting on him to pass the necessary checkpoints to get reinstated. We wanted him to play as soon as he was ready to play. Given that he's not eligible to come off until [Wednesday], we can get him some at-bats and continue to evaluate."
Update: The Astros have officially activated Springer:
Last night #Astros optioned OF Robbie Grossman to AAA Fresno. OF George Springer will be reinstated from the DL for tonight's game.

Left-handed starter Brett Oberholtzer is also expected to be activated in time for a start against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night. Should that happen, the lefty will be making his 2015 debut after missing the first month of the season with a nagging blister on his index finger.
