Asdrubal Cabrera likely to have surgery

Published May. 18, 2010 1:00 a.m. ET

Cleveland Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera appears headed for surgery on his broken left forearm.

Indians manager Manny Acta, says Cabrera will see a specialist in Baltimore on Wednesday. Speaking before Tuesday's game at Tampa Bay, Acta says there's a ``high probability'' the infielder will need surgery.

Cabrera has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, and Cleveland recalled infielder Jason Donald from Triple-A Columbus.

Cabrera broke his forearm in the first inning of Monday night's 4-3 loss when he and third baseman Jhonny Peralta collided.

Also, Indians center fielder Grady Sizemore is out of the starting lineup for the second consecutive game due to a bruised left knee. Acta says Sizemore will have an MRI exam Wednesday.
