A's trade LHP Milone to Twins in exchange for OF Fuld
The Oakland A's have traded left-handed starter Tommy Milone to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for outfielder Sam Fuld, FOX Sports 1 Insiders Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi report.
Milone, 27, went 6-3 with a 3.55 ERA in 16 starts for the A's this season before being sent to Triple-A Sacramento when the team acquired right-handers Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel from the Chicago Cubs in early July.
Unhappy with the demotion and sensing he had might have a tough time winning back a rotation spot, he reportedly requested a trade. The rotation logjam only worsened Thursday when Oakland acquired ace left-hander Jon Lester from the Boston Red Sox.
In his four-season major-league career, Milone is 32-22 with a 3.84 ERA in 80 games (78 starts).
Fuld, 32, rejoins the A's, with whom he began the 2014 season before being claimed off waivers by the Twins in late April. He is batting .263/.356/.366 with two homers and 21 RBI in 60 games this season.
Fuld and Jonny Gomes, acquired in the deal for Lester, will add depth to an outfield that has lost Yoenis Cespedes. Cespedes was sent to the Red Sox in exchange for Lester and Gomes.
