Arrieta-bashing Orioles fan will never hear the end of this exchange with the pitcher
While one of worst things about Twitter is regular foul language and abuse, one of the best aspects is that nearly everything on the platform gets preserved for later reference.
To Casey Wiliams' credit, he did not delete his April 21, 2013 trashing of then-Orioles pitcher Jake Arrieta, who walked, gave up two hits and allowed five earned runs over four innings at home against the Dodgers that day.
The poor outing prompted Williams to unload on Arrieta. The pitcher responded as calmly as one can while also issuing a threat, and also made a bold prediction that he continues to deliver on:
After that April 2013 game, Arrieta got sent down to the minors and made only one more start (a brutal 10-hit, five earned run showing at Detroit) before getting traded to the Chicago Cubs.
Arrieta fared better in Cubbie blue in 2013 but didn't exactly show front-of-the-rotation promise until a solid 2014 campaign, and then of course in 2015 he earned the NL Cy Young Award that was fueled by an otherworldly post-All-Star break stretch.
So for a good time today, check the guy's mentions. Here's a sampling:
