Are these prospects the saviors of baseball's worst teams?
Fans of the Astros, Cubs, Twins, Mets, and Rockies – five of baseball’s worst 11 teams last year – can take solace in the fact that there is hope for the future.
MLB.com released yesterday its annual Top 100 prospects list and of the organizations with top ten crops of future talent, the teams previously mentioned made up half of the ten.
For the Astros especially, this must be sweet. After finishing with the worst record in baseball last season (51-111) they sport the best set of prospects in the league. While it may take a few years to graduate all of them to the bigs, this news must be a comfort for Houston fans sitting in the increasingly uncomfortable seats of Minute Maid Park.
The Cubs came in with the third-best bunch of players, the Twins followed closely at fifth, the Mets eighth and the Rockies tenth.
