AP source: Rays agree to get Dickerson from Rox for McGee
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) A person with knowledge of the situation says the Tampa Bay Rays have agreed to acquire outfielder Corey Dickerson from the Colorado Rockies for left-handed reliever Jake McGee.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Thursday because the trade has not been announced. Prospects also are involved in the deal.
Dickerson was deemed expendable since Colorado had an abundance of left-handed hitting outfielders with the recent signing of Gerardo Parra. The 26-year-old Dickerson hit .304 last year with 10 homers and 31 RBIs. He was limited to 65 games because of plantar fasciitis and then later broken ribs sustained while diving for a ball.
The 29-year-old McGee was 1-2 with a 2.41 ERA and six saves last season. He agreed this month to a $4.8 million, one-year contract.
Dickerson is not yet eligible for salary arbitration.
