Published Feb. 12, 2015 5:38 p.m. ET

MIAMI (AP) Florida Gov. Rick Scott will attend a news conference Friday for the announcement by Major League Baseball that the 2017 All-Star Game will be hosted by the Miami Marlins.

Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred also will attend the event at Marlins Park, as will team owner Jeffrey Loria and the mayors of Miami, Miami-Dade County and Miami Beach.

The game will be hosted for the first time by the Marlins, who began play in 1993. They were awarded the 2000 game at Pro Player Stadium but stripped of the honor after founding owner Wayne Huizenga dismantled the 1997 World Series championship team.

Marlins Park opened in 2012.
