Angels use helicopter in attempt to dry outfield

The Los Angeles Angels aren’t used to this whole rain thing.

The team had its first home rainout since June 19, 1995, on Sunday, forcing the Angels to play a doubleheader against the Boston Red Sox on Monday. But there was just one little problem.

The drainage system at Angel Stadium of Anaheim is essentially nonexistent, but it rains so little during the summer in Southern California (it’s only the second summer rainout in the team’s history) that the Angels didn’t have many solutions for getting rid of the water that collected in the outfield. So, they used a police helicopter to dry the outfield grass.

No, seriously. You can see a video here.

The Angels’ unconventional methods must have worked, as the doubleheader was set to be played as scheduled.
