Angels' Morin has open, honest take on demotion to minors

Sometimes players take news of a demotion to the minor leagues with frustration, anger, surprise and general disillusionment.

That's not the case with Mike Morin, who was optioned by the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday.

When asked his thoughts by Jeff Fletcher of the O.C. Register, Morin replied with this open and on-point answer: "Seven and a half ERA, dude."

He expanded a bit further, recognizing some of his issues commanding the strike zone: "I think a lot of it has to do with my fastball command. When I’m good, I’m down. I’m able to throw my changeup and my slider in the zone for strikes. But it all starts with fastball command, getting ahead. I don’t care how good a pitcher you are, it’s tough to pitch from behind.”

Remember Morin's refreshing approach to this situation the next time you read about a player reacting to a demotion in a traditional manner.
