Angels bring up reliever, option Boesch to minors

NEW YORK (AP) The Los Angeles Angels have called up right-hander Mike Morin from Triple-A Salt Lake, hoping he can help shore up a shaky bullpen.

The team selected Morin's contract before Sunday night's game against the New York Yankees and optioned outfielder Brennan Boesch to Salt Lake. Boesch was 3 for 13 (.231) with a double.

The 22-year-old Morin, who had never pitched in the majors, saved three games for Double-A Arkansas this season and two more with Salt Lake after getting promoted April 16. He was the organization's minor league pitcher of the year last season.

To make room on the 40-man roster, Double-A lefty Michael Roth was designated for assignment.
