Andrus out with back tightness

Published Aug. 31, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

Shortstop Elvis Andrus has left the Texas Rangers' game against the Minnesota Twins due to lower back tightness.

Andrus, who was the designated hitter in Saturday night's lineup, singled with one out in the first against Mike Pelfrey. Ian Kinsler followed with another single, and Andrus grimaced as he rounded second base and slowed down as he pulled up at third.

Adam Rosales replaced Andrus and scored on Adrian Beltre's sacrifice fly to tie it at 1. The Rangers say Andrus is day to day.
