Anderson has no-hitter through 7 innings for Brewers vs Cubs
MILWAUKEE (AP) Chase Anderson of the Milwaukee Brewers has not allowed a hit through seven innings against the Chicago Cubs.
The right-hander has struck out five and walked one. He has thrown 87 pitches.
Anderson (1-5), who has lost five straight starts, was perfect through five innings before he walked Miguel Montero with one out in the sixth.
Kirk Nieuwenhuis made a leaping catch at the wall in center field to open the fourth inning, robbing Dexter Fowler of an extra-base hit and preserving the no-hit bid.
The Brewers lead 4-0 on a solo home run by Jonathan Lucroy, an RBI single by Ryan Braun and a two-run double by Chris Carter.
Anderson took a no-hit bid into the seventh on June 12 last season with Arizona against San Francisco. He ended up allowing one hit over seven innings in a 1-0 win.
