ALDS: Yankees take 2-0 lead over Twins in best-of-5 series

RECAP: Andy Pettitte pitched New York to a 5-2 victory, giving up two runs on five hits and a walk over seven innings for his 19th postseason victory, pushing the Twins to within one loss of elimination in Game 2 of a best-of-five American League Division Series at Target Field.

Pettitte (1-0) fell behind 1-0 when Danny Valencia's sacrifice fly scored Delmon Young in the second, and gave up a solo home run to Orlando Hudson that tied it 2-2 in the sixth. But he outdueled former teammate Carl Pavano (0-1) to improve to 19-9 in 41 postseason starts.

Lance Berkman homered and doubled to knock in two runs, and Curtis Granderson went 3 for 4 with an RBI.

MEANING: The Twins are 0-11 in postseason play since beating the Yankees in Game 1 of the 2004 division series, and in danger of being swept in the first round of the playoffs for the third consecutive time.

ETC.: Mariano Rivera pitched a scoreless ninth for his 18th career postseason save. ... A Target Field record 42,035 spectators were in attendance for Thursday's game.
