Adrian Gonzalez pulls off a virtually impossible juggling catch

Published Jun. 23, 2016 1:19 a.m. ET

Adrian Gonzalez has made his fair share of spectacular plays during his 13-year career as evidenced by his four Gold Gloves. But the Dodgers veteran first baseman might have made the best play of his career and the catch of the year Wednesday night.

In the fifth inning, Joe Ross hit a fly ball that curved into foul territory down the right-field line. Gonzalez, second baseman Chase Utley and right fielder Yasiel Puig converged on the ball. Utley appeared to have the best angle to make the play, but the ball popped out of his glove.

Gonzalez trapped the bobbled ball with this bare hand against his leg but then lost his grip. Gonzalez then swooped down with his glove hand to secure the ball right before it hit the ground.
