Activity around Cespedes 'intensifying', Mets and White Sox interested
The Baltimore Orioles, who had reportedly offered a five-year deal to Yoenis Cespedes, have instead signed Chris Davis -- leaving Cespedes out to dry.
Or maybe not.
According to Jim Bowden at ESPN, interest surrounding Cespedes is "intensifying."

Jon Heyman followed up with a tweet confirming the interest, saying multiple teams are involved.
A couple days ago, Bob Nightengale of USA Today mentioned the New York Mets and Chicago White Sox as suitors -- but on a short-term deal:
The #Mets and #Whitesox each interested in Cespedes if he accepts short-term deal

Many have speculated that the slugging outfielder could sign a one-year deal and hit free agency in a much smaller market in 2017. If these reports are to be believed, though, Cespedes' market has developed quite nicely after Davis signed.
Cespedes has played for four different teams over the past two seasons and has developed into one of the premier speed/power combos in the bigs.
In 2015, the 30-year-old hit .291 with 35 homers and 105 RBI across 159 games between the Tigers and Mets.
