The Cleveland Indians will get a much-needed day off to begin the month of September.
The Indians are off today, and will begin a three-game series against the Miami Marlins tomorrow night at home. Last night saw the Tribe finish off a sweep of the lowly Twins, keeping the Indians 4.5 games ahead of the Detroit Tigers, who just swept the Chicago White Sox.
The series against the Marlins will feature some new faces, as the rosters expand to 40 players, while the team will also welcome Coco Crisp back to town after acquiring him in a trade with the Oakland Athletics.
The Indians don’t have a game today, but there is still much to talk about. Let’s take a look at the news surrounding the Indians and the rest of the MLB in today’s edition of A.M. Wahoo’s.

Cleveland Indians Acquire Coco Crisp in Trade from Oakland
The Cleveland Indians and Oakland Athletics have agreed to a trade will bring outfielder Coco Crisp back to the place where his career started. The 36-year old Crisp, who debuted with the Indians back in 2002, provides veteran playoff experience and depth for the postseason, as Abraham Almonte will not be eligible for the playoffs due to his PED suspension in spring training.

Back in Goodyear, Arizona during spring training, it seemed the Cleveland Indians could have filled their 40-man roster with relief pitchers on minor league contracts trying to stick with the big league ballclub.
Indians Promote Perci Garner, Option Shawn Armstrong
The Cleveland Indians have made yet another move in the bullpen, this time promoting right-handed reliever Perci Garner from Triple-A Columbus. Fellow righty Shawn Armstrong will be on his way out once again, this time heading to Class-A Lake County as the bullpen carousel continues.

The Indians’ acquisition of Coco Crisp followed a much different path than their failed bid for Jonathan Lucroy. Crisp, like Lucroy, had the right to veto the deal because of his 10 and five rights – 10 years in the big leagues and five with the same team.

Coco Crisp is headed back to his first baseball home. Crisp, a switch-hitting outfielder, is returning to the Cleveland Indians, who agreed Wednesday to a trade with the Oakland Athletics, the teams announced. By making it official Wednesday, Crisp, 36, will be eligible for the postseason.

Neil Walker to Have Season-Ending Surgery (FanSided)
The New York Mets have been riddled with injuries in 2016, and they will add another big name to the list this week. Neil Walker is expected to have season-ending surgery on his back, as he continues to deal with pain associated with a herniated disk. The second baseman has not played since Saturday, and will now shut it down for the remainder of 2016.
Yasiel Puig Pulled Off of Waivers (Call to the Pen)
The Los Angeles Dodgers are now pulling Yasiel Puig off of waivers. Last night it wasreported that an unknown team claimed Yasiel Puig’s rights. With a team claiming him, Los Angeles had the ability to either negotiate a trade with the unknown team, allow the team to take on Puig’s entire contract, or revoke the claim and retain Puig’s rights.
