INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Gabby Douglas is heading back to the same event that kickstarted her run to an Olympic all-around gymnastics title.

Douglas will headline the 2016 American Cup in Newark, New Jersey next March, the first major international event of the year leading up to the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro. Douglas competed in the 2012 American Cup in New York City, posting the best score of the day. She became the fourth American woman to win the Olympic all-around in London later that year.

Two-time world championship medalist Maggie Nichols will also compete in the eight-woman field. Three-time national champion Sam Mikulak and two-time world championship team member Donnell Whittenburg will compete in the men's event.

Three-time defending world champion Simone Biles will make her 2016 debut at the Pac-Rim championships in Everett, Washington on April 8-10.
