Webb wins Ladies European Masters
Hall of Famer Karrie Webb rallied to win the Ladies European Masters on Sunday, making two eagles in a 7-under 65 for a one-stroke victory.
The 38-year-old Australian, preparing for the Women's British Open at St. Andrews, had a 16-under 200 total at Buckinghamshire. She has three victories this season, also winning the Australian Ladies Masters in February and the LPGA Tour's ShopRite LPGA Classic in June.
''I came over here to get some tournament rounds under my belt, get some confidence going, get into the time zone and British conditions,'' Webb said. ''To win is just the icing on the cake. I'm very happy with how I played this week and I got more and more confident on the course as the week went on.''
Webb eagled the par-5 ninth and 14th holes.
''I hadn't played the par 5s particularly well this week,'' Webb said. ''It's a great boost when conditions are tough.''
South Africa's Ashleigh Simon was second. She closed with a 69.
The Women's British Open starts Thursday on the Old Course.
