Real estate mogul Donald Trump was accused of employing bullying tactics in his attempts to build an elite golf course in Scotland after erecting a fence around a neighbor's house and then charging him for it.
David Milne, 46, was shocked when he received a £2,820 ($4,633) bill from "The Apprentice" magnate, amounting to half the cost of the boundary and trees that now border his property.
"I could not believe it when the bill arrived. I priced the materials and I could put up the whole fence on my own for about £800," he told Scottish newspaper The Daily Record. "It's made from the cheapest stuff available but that's the kind of standard we've come to expect from Mr. Trump and his organization."
Milne angered Trump by refusing to sell him his home in Balmedie, northeastern Scotland, which the mogul wanted to flatten after branding it "ugly."
Milne said he had even less inclination to meet the invoice for the fencing.
"There is no way I'm going to pay it. As far as I'm concerned it's just another attempt to intimidate and bully me," he said. "But it's not going to work. I'm not paying any attention to it at all."
Trump, who recently cooled his interest in a potential run for US president, hoped to open his resort by summer 2012 after gaining permission to build two championship courses, a hotel and 950 houses.
