World golf No. 1 Tiger Woods arrived in Australia aboard his private jet Monday, days ahead of his first appearance in an Australian tournament in 11 years.

Woods will receive $3 million in appearance fees to play in the $1.5 million Australian Masters, which starts at Melbourne's Kingston Heath course on Thursday.

The most recent of Woods' three previous tournament appearances in Australia was as a 21-year-old member of the U.S. team which lost the 1998 Presidents Cup in Melbourne.

Woods finished sixth behind Phil Mickelson on the weekend at the WGC event at Shanghai, China.
