Ian Poulter of England has withdrawn from the final round of the PGA Championship because of illness.

Poulter was at 5-over 221 after three rounds. He has talked about a chest infection throughout the week, and said Saturday night on Twitter that he might not be able to play Sunday.

Poulter is No. 3 in the European points standings for the Ryder Cup, with the top five qualifying.

He was to play with Jeff Overton, also virtually assured a spot in the Ryder Cup. Overton played alone, and finished the front nine at Whistling Straits in just over one hour.
