Tom Lewis of England finished as the leading amateur in the British Open on Sunday, capturing the silver medal and completing a memorable week at Royal St. George's.

The 20-year-old Lewis, who was co-leader with Denmark's Thomas Bjorn after the first round, shot a 4-over 74 in his final round for an aggregate score of 9 over.

Peter Uihlein of the United States, the only other amateur to make the cut, was three strokes behind Lewis after a last-round 75. The 21-year-old US amateur champion won the bronze medal.

Three other amateurs missed the cut on Friday.
